Blog > The Brogue

From humble beginnings in the bogs of Scotland to the feet of countless City bankers, the brogue is as British as a cup of tea. Originally made for outdoor pursuits, the perforated holes were meant to drain water from the shoe as the wearer traipsed through soggy terrain. We love the terribly traditional full wingtip toe cap- perfect paired with a floral dress or that nonchalant, thrown-together style with a hint of androgyny that us Brits do so well. Take your style cue from Alexa et al and team with ankle socks, too. (source Stylist, issue 128)
