The smaller heel – You’ve dreamt of this: a new easy way to wear SHOES. Low heels are back!
An alternative to flat pumps and boyish lace-ups is the kitten heel, peep toe or court shoe. The smaller heel is two-inches or 6cm and less.Though traditionally the preserve of women whose role requires them to dress conservatively – see Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy – it’s back, cooler and fresher. After years where the term ‘killer’ could be used about heels with good reason, there’s something very chic about this new height, which has slowly been infiltrating runways since s/s 2011. Maybe it’s because, post-Gaga, things couldn’t get any higher; maybe it’s just the inevitable trend cycle working its way round. One thing is certain: overly high shoes simply don’t look right for autumn/winter 2012. So where do you shop? Try Selfridges shoe gallery, Zara, Dune and Clarks and they can be worn with virtually any outfit. Wearing them with cropped skinny trousers looks sexy or with a mid-calf skirt and keep the top half slim (fitted). Happy walking in comfortable shoes with SOME height- finally!
